This piece must have been maintained in an armory, because it is in such great condition.  The original finish is 95% or higher, and the wood is complete with only minor compressions.  All original finish on the whole rifle — not refinished or sanded.  There is a cartouche on the left side that is visible in some of the photos.  The action functions perfectly, and the barrel is bright.  The cleaning rod rotates, but it does not unscrew (will not come out).  The bayonet, which has some surface rust, comes with the rifle. 

I have shot this rifle (three rounds) and it functions perfectly.  The action is smooth and strong.  Caliber .45-70.
