Full Description

Make: Beretta

Model: 1200FP

Serial Number: T34787E

Year of Manufacture: 1990

Gauge: 12 Gauge, 3” Magnum

Action Type: Semi-Automatic, Inertia Operated, Tube Magazine Fed Shotgun

Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “P. BERETTA - MADE IN ITALY / 12 GA. 3" MAGNUM - 20"" and “CL”. The right is marked "BERETTA USA CORP., ACKK, MD.". The left of the receiver is marked "P. BERETTA" with "PB" in oval and "Model 1200FP - 12 Ga." with the serial number along the rear edge. The bottom of the receiver at the front is marked with three proofs and the "AU" in square date code. The right side of the receiver is marked "P. BERETTA / MADE IN ITALY" and "PATENTED". The buttpad is marked with Beretta's rings and arrows logo.

Barrel Length: 20”

Choke: Fixed, Cylinder

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a rear sloping blade with a red strip that is dovetailed to a serrated ramp which is fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is a square notch leaf that is screw adjustable for windage and dovetailed to the barrel. The top of the receiver is serrated for glare reduction.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are a two piece black polymer with serrated grip areas, finger grooves on the forend, capped pistol grip, straight comb and solid black rubber buttpad. The stocks have scattered light scuffs and draglines. There are no chips or cracks. The buttpad has no notable wear or damage. The LOP measures 14 1/2” from the front of the trigger to the back of the pad, which shows minor rub wear throughout.

Type of Finish: Parkerized Barrel, Black Anodized Receiver

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and clean without any signs of erosion throughout the bore.

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 96% of its metal finish. The barrel has a few scattered light marks and the receiver has some light marks throughout and around the loading port. The mag tube shows light marks. The bolt shows little in the way of operational wear. The pinheads are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. I have personally fired this shotgun and it shoots very well and cycles without issue.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None.

Assessment: The Beretta 1200 is an early inertia-operated semi-automatic shotgun with a simple mechanism and all-weather synthetic stocks. With its 20” barrel and fixed cylinder choke, this is an ideal home defense shotgun. The slightly hump-backed receiver harkens back to the earliest semi-automatic shotguns but the design and craftsmanship is all modern. This shotgun is in about Very Good condition.
